You can ask the same question when it comes to your American system of “registered voters”, that is not how democracy works. People who register for a party and basically give away their votes in advance, do not participate in a democracy.

Even you anonymiss strive for profit in your life, everyone need profit in order to survive. You need profits of food in your refrigerator, profit for your children so they can get an education, profit in your physical health to function well, profit to live a life. You work in order to gain profit, if you did not profit from your work earning you’d likely call it slave work. Some profit more than other (at the cost of more risk, responsibility and uncertainty) but I agree that at some point it become okay to talk about making arrangements to distribute some of that profit for a greater good. Profit is not bad, when you understand that solutions can be debated. Profit and accumulation of wealth come and go, sometimes it take centuries for a rich family to go back to zero other times the rich one chooses to give away it all at the end of their live, and some loose it all in the blink of an eye, the time-frame is different. Its always easy to demand someone else give away their profit than to give away your own profit. Profits will naturally redistribute, it just won’t happen as speedy as you would like.

It never was useful. However, until Trump, the US Federal government wasn't a fully realized fascist entity (in the mid 90's or so it was an Oligarchy in service to the rich but still played lip service to us non-wealthy plebes) so the impact of the occasional Republican president was tolerable. States, counties, and smaller municipalities (the true democracies in the United States IMO) kept doing their thing and life went on. Now though, not so much. Very bad, very awful people have come into power and are working to overthrow the government. This is survival of a nation, not democracy.

You need profits of food in your refrigerator (sic)

No. You need income. Profit is not just another word for income. Profit is income you get simply by being the owner of something. Most people's income comes from hourly wages. BTW, in the USA, profit is taxed at a lower rate than wages.

other times the rich one chooses to give away it all (sic)

Pure fantasy. Most wealthy people here in the USA were born wealthy. They don't give it all away. They keep it in the family. In fact, they never give away so much that they are no longer wealthy. They are only generous when it doesn't force them to live like us.

Or out of spite. See MacKenzie Scott.
